2007 on the river
2007 has been an exciting year of growth for Missouri River Relief. We’ve hosted and participated in clean-ups from the Mississippi River to Yankton, South Dakota. We’ve hired a new program manager, Steve Schnarr, straight out of our volunteer ranks. We've added an Americorps Stream Team Assistant, Melanie Cheney.

Our volunteer crew has grown, adding more trained boat drivers. We’ve purchased another plate boat. We’ve expanded our “Away Team” program, bringing our experience and equipment to help other organizations with their river clean-ups.
Recognition of our skills continues to grow. Our “West Coast” Coordinator, Vicki Richmond, has been given two major awards this year, from the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Conservation Federation of Missouri. The Open Space Council recognized us with their William T. Schock "Clean Water Conservancy" Award.
This is all possible only with the generosity of our sponsors, the dedication of our volunteer crew, and the hard work of hundreds of volunteers from five states.
Here’s a breakdown of our accomplishments for the year:
- clean-ups hosted or participated in: 19
